Yes, you read correctly, chocolate mousse that’s healthy, guilt free and good for you! Of course, it’s not your conventional chocolate, cream and sugar filled dessert, but it’s smooth, rich and addictive and will certainly curb your chocolate craving. It’s gluten free, dairy free and paleo and can easily be made vegan so everyone can have fun eating it and no one has to miss out!
If you have them on hand, this mousse pairs perfectly with macerated strawberries, a handful of blueberries or extra sliced banana. You can also play around with what you put in your mousse. The bananas could be substituted for dates, you can change the honey for another natural sweetener like agave or rice malt syrup to make it vegan. You could even try adding a small pinch of ground chilli for a surprise kick! It is super just how it is though.
This literally takes five minutes to throw together and requires very little time to set so you can make yourself a delicious after dinner treat in no time at all!
Serves 4
1 large avocado, stone and skin removed
2 medium bananas, cut into chunks
3-4 tablespoons honey (agave or rice malt syrup if you are vegan)
4 tablespoons cocoa or cacao powder
3 tablespoons coconut oil
A pinch of salt
Place all ingredients in a food processor and blend for a few minutes, until it all comes together.
Spoon the mixture into four small ramekins. Refrigerate for an hour or until ready to serve. Top with fresh berries and banana and enjoy!
