Our first two weeks in our new city were a whirlwind. We practically lived on top of Alex and Amy (my brother and his girlfriend) who were kind enough to let us sleep on a blow up bed on their bedroom floor. They live in a tiny apartment on beautiful Barclay Road in Fulham (we are told it used to be even more beautiful until they cut all the green from the trees the day before we arrived). They share the flat with two others (Amy’s cousin and her partner, who is also Alex’s friend from university). It is actually an apartment built for two, but they use the living area as a bedroom. So with six living in such a tiny space, we were very cosy to say the least! Cosy, but happy!
As soon as we arrived in Fulham, we knew this was an area we would love to live in. As Amy and Alex describe it, Fulham is an inner city suburb with an outer city feel. Though it is busy, it is not crawling with people.
We had been scouring ‘Zoopla’ in search of an appropriate abode for weeks. Before we had even left Melbourne we had lined up property viewings. Just two days after arriving in London (and about twenty apartments later) we found the one. It ticked all the right boxes. A cute little one bedroom flat on Farm Lane. Perfect.
It is in such close proximity to Alex’s flat that we have been hosting regular dinner gatherings. Mondays have the official title of “Game of Thrones Night” and the other nights are “Come over guys because you don’t have a lounge room or a television”.
We are settled in now and enjoying our London Life
